AFAIK, Apple only 'allows' virtualization of OS X on Apple hardware, which means it should only be a feature of Fusion. I run fusion on my Mac and have a Mac OS vm for testing etc. Was really hoping this would work, as I have yet to find any other options/possible solutions. You can run ESXi on an apple server (when those still existed) and virtualize Mac OS. To run Mac OS X you need a host on which VMware Workstation supports hardware virtualization." Tried to Power on the VM of OSX Lion and I contuniue to get "Mac OS X is not supported with software virtualization. I ran it again, got a message saying 1 of 7 patterns. Got a message saying 0 of 7 patterns, Patch will not work.

ESX & ESXi - the driver level (via the DDK) uses a Linux emulation API to aid in driver porting. ESXi - the command line system is based on BusyBox so utilities would need to be compiled for that environment. I placed the patch file in Program Files (86x)/VMware. It is in essence a privileged guest OS that resides inside its own VMDK. I'm running Win7 64bit, but I have VMware Workstation v8.92 32bit. Not sure why, but this patch does not work for me. However, this patch is absolutely clean and only changes 2 bytes in vmware-vmx.exe. This patch was created using Tola's Patching Engine 2.03b and packed using UPX 3.07, which will possibly cause virus scanners to detect it as malware. I have heard this patch works for many people, but it just doesn't seem to work right for me.Īfter applying patch it says 1 of 1 patched.Įdit: all you german guys should also have a look at this thread on boerse.bz. If I press Yes it hangs there,if no the image booting stops.

However, 64-bit operation is not possible. You have configured this virtual machine to use a 64-bit guest operating system.

I am trying to use OSX prebuilt vmdk file on Vmware.Īfter applying the Mac OSX guest patch (after or before tried both)Īs soon as I open the vmware image i get this error: I am using this version 7.1.4 build-385536 of Vmware on Windows 7 圆4 Also feel free to comment this in any way. If you have a version later than 7.1.4 and none of these patches work, feel free to upload your vmware-vmx.exe, that I can have a look at it. If you tried and it worked, please consider posting the version/build it worked with.

(Actually the 32 Bit patches for 7.1.3 and 7.1.4 are the very same patch). It is possible, that these patches work on other versions, too. However, these patches are absolutely clean and do only change 2 bytes in vmware-vmx.exe. The patches have been created using Tola's Patching Engine 2.03b, which might cause virus scanners to categorize them as malware. Edit: I'm not quite sure if this is the right section, if not, would someone please move this post to the appropriate forum?Īs I couldn't run Mac OS in VMWare Workstation because my hardware is not capable of Hardware Virtualization, I figured out a way to bypass the check.
